Geothermal Generation

The innovative pipe and plant design at Ngatamariki has performed well above design specifications, contributing to a long legacy of quality design thinking within New Zealand’s energy sector.

Designed for large-scale, sustainable energy production, the Ngatamariki power station, the largest of its kind in the world, generates energy day and night and provides power to 80,000 New Zealand homes.

Formed in partnership between Tauhara North No. 2 Trust of Ngāti Tahu and Mighty River Power, Ngatamariki power station created 450 jobs in the area and supports NZ Govt target to produce 90% of our power from renewable energy by 2025.
