Up River
Hek Busby (of the Ngati Kahu, Ngapuhi and Te Rarawa tribes) is recognised throughout the Pacific as a leading tohunga (learned expert) in building and navigating traditional Māori waka (Canoes and ocean going voyaging vessels). Hek has built more than 30 waka and sailed more than 30,000 miles, closing the Polynesian triangle. Hek’s insights into how a waka journey and a business journey are similar remind us that Māori have been applying these principles for hundreds of years. Hel shares his knowledge and experience with visitors from all around the world.
